Folklore
I'm really interested in how contemporary culture lives out its past through symbols, unexamined cultural narratives, and stories. Currently, my research is around different calendar systems and their relationship with agriculture, as well as symbols of love, and how these relate to current economics, cultural values, and the daily lives of the public.

Research Interest: The role of Folklore in urban studies practice. How can the discipline's focus on informal, unofficial, popular, and alternative practices bridge theories and methods in the humanities with urban studies practices. I'm particularly interested in themes of collective memory, heritage, infrastructure, belonging, and cultural preservation and transmission.
