I study contemporary resettlement plans involving islands. My two sites of particular attention are first, a small man-made refugee camp-island in Bangladesh which is the new home for many thousands of Rohingya refugees; and second, the contemporary seasteading movement which aims to marketize sovereignty and reconceptualizes manmade islands as the ultimate source of freedom.
