President Barack Obama has announced his intention to reappoint Rosemary Joyce as a member of the Cultural Property Advisory Committee. Established by law in 1983, the Committee advises the Secretary of State on requests from other nations for the U.S. to prohibit import of specific antiquities or ethnographically significant objects in danger from looting. It is how the US implements the 1970 UNESCO convention on illegal trafficking in antiquities. Professor Joyce is one of three committee members selected for their expertise in anthropology and archaeology.
