Nelson Graburn, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at UC Berkeley, and Xiangchun Zheng, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Ethnology at Yunnan Minzu University in China and Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, were recognized with the Best Paper Award at the first-ever International Conference on Wine Market and Cultures of Consumption for their paper “The Old and the New: the Landscape of Wine Tasting in China.” Put on by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the University of Burgundy, and UNESCO, the conference hosted an international jury of Chinese, French, and English experts, and aimed to provide a platform for wine industry practitioners, academics and researchers, critics and journalists, and policymakers to exchange views and discuss current issues in wine trade and cultures.
