Last week Chancellor's Professor Emeritus Patrich V. Kirch was awarded the degree of Docteur Honoris Causa by the Universite de Polynesie Francaise in Tahiti for his contributions to Polynesian archaeology. His honorary doctorate comes after years of fieldwork in the region beginning in 1965, as well as numerous publications, projects, lectures, and appointments since.
