Research Interests: Medical Anthropology, Anthropology of Food, Anthropology of China, Alternative Food Networks, Obesity and Nutrition

Min Lee's current research is about food safety and alternative food networks in Southwest China. Her fieldwork involves an "ecological village" at the rural fringe of Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. She views food risk as relational harm that incorporates complex entanglement of the political economy of the agro-industrial food system, urbanization, ecological crisis, and the break of social trust. She is interested in the socio-cultural perceptions of 'risk' and 'safety' and newly emerging relational practices to re-establish trust and live with the permeating everyday risks of eating.
