About:

I am a Ph.D. student in Medical Anthropology. Building on my time working with unaccompanied refugees in Sweden, my research circulates around death and dying under the conditions of war in Afghanistan: including how death shapes and bounds subjectivities, how Afghans live with death in abeyance, and how they inhabit the interfaces of medical humanitarianism and war. With a master’s degree in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London, I have also explored the processes of racialization of Afghans in Iran, bringing psychoanalytical theories of the unconscious alongside the work of culture.
