My research looks at sexual health curriculum protests in Fremont, CA to conceptualize speaking at school board meetings as a form of performance. I am interested in not only how people claim agency in spaces perhaps perceived as unwelcome to them, but also how stories of the immigrant experience become framed within the context of health and education.
