Basit Iqbal

Bio:

Basit Kareem Iqbal is a PhD candidate in the department of anthropology and program in critical theory at the University of California, Berkeley. His ethnographic work lies with Muslim humanitarians and refugees in the wake of the Syrian uprising. His research interests include Islam, secularism, displacement, and poetics. Recent publications have appeared in Qui Parle, Anthropological Theory, and Method & Theory in the Study of Religion. In 2019-2021 he will be a SSHRC Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta.
