About:
I live and travel with Central American migrants in Mexico. I am interested, broadly speaking, in migration, passage, borders, limits, voids, and strangers. I pay special attention to how notions of the self, the subject, the other, the collective, the community, and the state are bound up in certain kinds of constitutive violence. I am interested in how that violence is obscured or hidden through particular neo/liberal conceptions of multiculturalism and universal equality (especially as they are enacted through the asylum process), and if a different set of ethics might be possible through the explicit recognition of violence bound up in all social interaction.
