Research

My current research focuses on the ways in which material culture shaped and was shaped by processes of colonialism in Polynesia.  This work has taken me to Kalaupapa National Historical Park in Hawaii, where I am directing a project on the historical archaeology of a nineteenth century Hansen's disease (commonly called leprosy) settlement.
