Medical Anthropology
Research
My interests include the anthropology of human and animal sciences. I am currently working with scientists, veterinarians, policy makers, development aid officials, and livestock industry representatives in Australia who are involved in a project to transform the basic infrastructure established in the Southeast Asian response to the SARS epidemic into a permanent regional system for infectious disease control. Next year I hope to visit sites of program implementation in Indonesia and the Lower Mekong River Region to observe how participating smallholders negotiate new regulatory requirements for the control of "transboundary animal diseases."
